History

In 1966, Sapporo Ichiban brand was first developed in Japan by Sanyo Foods Co., Ltd and has since been one of the leading instant noodle brands in the Japanese market. After receiving massive support from our Japanese consumers, Sanyo Foods Co., Ltd began exporting Sapporo Ichiban brand products internationally.

Sanyo Foods Corp of America was established in Southern California in 1978 based upon its predecessor Sanyo Foods Co., Ltd in Japan. We are committed to offer Sapporo Ichiban brand instant noodles with a distinctive Japanese flavor that is easy to prepare in accordance with our company’s motto “To create products with high quality and delicious taste” for consumers worldwide.

1978 Feb. Sanyo Foods Corp. of America was established in 1978 and incorporated in Garden Grove, California.
1978 Nov. The company started selling shelf stable instant noodles in original, chicken and beef flavors.
1979 May The company made inroads into Canadian market.
1983 Apr. The company released shelf stable instant noodles in shrimp flavor.
1986 May The company released shelf stable instant noodles in Yakisoba (chowmein) and miso flavors.
1990 Sep. The company owned Yorba Linda Country Club and Lomas Santa Fe Country Club
1992 Mar. The company released shelf stable instant cup noodle in original, chicken, beef, shrimp flavors.
1992 Sep. The company owned Dove canyon country club.
1993 Mar. The company owned Tustin Ranch Golf Club.
2011 Dec. The company released shelf stable instant noodles in Salt Ramen, hot & spicy chicken flavors.
The company released shelf stable instant noodles as a value pack of five in one set for original, miso and salt flavors.
Miso flavor was renewed.
